I have been teaching cataract surgery for the last decade.
One of my interests has been in developing teaching techniques to reduce trainees' intraoperative complications to an absolute minimum while on the learning curve. My textbook "Phacoemulsification: Step by Step" was first published in 2001. This was one of the first ophthalmic texts to feature an attached video cd. The internet has changed the way we teach surgery and I now use www.phacotutorials.info to teach cataract surgical technique.
My aim is to make your experience of cataract surgery as comfortable, stress free and even as enjoyable as possible, and to give you the best possible visual outcome by customizing my technique to your eye and helping you choose the ideal intraocular lens for your lifestyle.
I feel strongly that patients need to have as much information as possible about their surgery, such that they understand all the risks and benefits and as much of the decision making process as possible.
